Record week for Salerno Container Terminal

Salerno Container Terminal achieved a historic result during the nineteenth week of the year, handling 10,640 TEUs, thanks to the docking and handling of 21 ships.

The weekly data, according to a press release, shows a substantial balance between full containers unloaded and loaded, with unloaded containers accounting for only 15% of total unloaded and loaded containers. The cold chain also continues to play a strategic role, with reefer container traffic reaching nearly 10% of total volumes. On the export front, the main market for goods leaving the Salerno terminal was North America, which alone accounted for 38% of shipments, followed by the Mediterranean region with 25% and Northern Europe with 20%.

This weekly result fits into a positive forecast: according to the company, overall throughput for the current year is realistically expected to be between 430,000 and 450,000 TEU. If confirmed, this target would mark a volume growth of up to 8% compared to the 416,000 TEU recorded the previous year.
