Italian Air Cargo on the Rise

The growth of air cargo at Italian airports continues at full throttle. According to Assaeroporti, airports across the Peninsula handled 104,700 tons of goods in September, representing a 12.7% increase compared to the same month in 2023. The development of air shipments in Italy has therefore continued at a faster pace than that observed globally (+9.4%) and across Europe (+11.7%).

As of the same date, global air shipments—according to IATA data—are growing at a steady but lower rate of +12.6%.

Of the total, 541,488 tons are attributable to Malpensa, which grew by 9.9%, and 204,991.9 to Fiumicino, an increase of 53.7%. Venice accounts for 46,360.2 tons (+31%), Bologna for 42,230.8 tons (+11.8%), while Brescia accounts for 27,468.7 tons (+8.7%).
